The 2020 prep football offseason has been a good one . One of the unique things this year is the surge in Division 1 commits from lower Division Schools , teams from D2-D4. The narrative that you have to be playing at an elite school to receive a D1 offer has been proven false, not to say that their aren’t many benefits from playing tougher competition but this offseason we’ve seen many D1 commits, for example ATH Isiah King from Montgomery committed to Idaho , DB Alessandro Demoreno from La Jolla committed to Davidson College , Vista LB Zach Schipper committed to South Dakota , Scripps Ranch QB Luke Durkin committed to Davidson College , some players are big time FBS recruits like Mater Dei DB Darren Barkins who is committed to Oregon . Several other players have big time offers La Jolla’s Max Smith has 5 D1 offers , Patrick Henry WR Kai Jessie also has 5 D1 offers . SDHS Amare Ary has a BYU offer , Crawfords Abi Ali Jr has an offer from St. Thomas University , Westview Mandela Tobin is one the hottest DL prospects currently holding 12 D1 offers from the likes of Fresno State , Nebraska and Kansas . Their is no doubt that if you put the work in Division 1 Colleges will find you . This upward trend is something to love about San Diego High School football .
